Beginner SWYBRYD Picking Exercises

3 Lessons

SWYBRYD picking — the blend of sweeping and hybrid picking — opens up a whole new vocabulary of speed, fluidity, and note choice. If Marshall Harrison’s “New Directions in SWYBRYD” module left you inspired but wondering where to start, this collection of foundational exercises is exactly the bridge you need.

What this course covers: A set of carefully chosen beginner exercises that build the core SWYBRYD technique from the ground up. These are the exercises developed while working through Marshall’s ideas — practical, focused, and arranged so you can build real control before tackling the more advanced material.

Where these exercises come from

Like many members, the inspiration for this course came from watching Marshall Harrison’s “New Directions in SWYBRYD” module. Rather than jumping straight into the advanced material, the approach here was to build a set of foundational exercises first — the kind of rudiments that develop the right-hand co-ordination and the muscle memory you need before the more complex patterns make sense. These exercises are directly inspired by things Marshall himself said.
