Deadstrokes

Recite this to yourself –

“We don’t synchronise our hands with each other, we synchronise each hand with our brain”

If you struggle to synchronise your hands, then theres a good chance its your central clock having problem with timing.

So lets start with just synchronising the right hand with our central clock. After all, if the right hand can’t play in time alone, it can’t play in time when we add the complexity of the right hand.

set a metronom to 60 BPM, mute the strings, and sweep across all 6 strings with an 8th note rhythm. Sweep up all 6, then back down all 6. (This means the E string will get played twice as you change direction)

Make this exercise smooth and groove!

Then practice this with different subdivisions, and more complicated ones, remember you don’t have to use all 6 strings, practice groups of 3,4, and 5 strings etc.

I will post another video of me practicing this soon as the demonstration in the video is poor, but enough for you to run with.
