Landmarks AKA The obvious

This is really about harnessing what you should already know about the guitar to help you start learning where some notes are.

This includes the open strings, the notes we use to tune, and the fact that the fretboard “starts again” at the 12th fret.

LANDMARK Example 1 The open strings and the 12th fret repeat (Octave)

Landmark Example 2 – Tuning Notes – This gives us some notes around the 5th Fret

Using the 5 fret back method to get the 7th/8 fret from our notes at the 12th. Notice how I’ve deduced the low E string by referencing the High E.

Combining all the landmarks gives us all of these notes, you should easily be able to work out adjacent notes now that you know these!
